Octavia (Vicki) Taylor will give a talk titled The Road from Damascus:  Syrian Stories of Love and War.  Ms. Taylor spent a year in Syria from 2009 – 2010 and since then has kept in touch with Syrian friends who remain there and some who have left.  She will report on the multi-faceted aspects of the conflict and look at how daily life for Syrians has been disrupted.

Octavia Taylor’s passport bulges with entrance and exit visas from four continents.  She has lived for two years in the Middle East, including her time in Syria.  She works in community development at Clark University and lives on a farm in New Braintree.  When not traveling or on the farm, she can be seen riding a red bicycle throughout Worcester County.
