PRE-SCHOOL STORY TIME

“Read, Build, Play”

Community Connections pre-school story time continues each Tuesday morning at 10:15 a.m. in the Children’s Library under the direction of Patricia Lowkes.  All pre-schoolers are invited to enjoy stories, games, movement and music.  No sign-up is necessary for this activity.

WINTER ACTIVITIES

Winter’s here and the Haston Public Library has lots of activities planned in January and February to keep its youngest patrons cozy and busy indoors. 

Beginning January 10, Thursday is weekly Craft Day, from 4:00-5:00 p.m.  Creative activities suitable for children aged five and up will be offered.  Children under the age of five may need assistance by a parent or sibling.

LEGO CLUB RETURNS!!!!!

 Weekly Lego Club started up again on Wednesday, January 16, and will continue each Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. 

Girls and boys of all ages are invited to build a masterpiece, which will be displayed in the Children’s Room for a week. 

*******At the first Lego Club meeting local Lego enthusiasts Bob and Carol Wheeler exhibited an assortment of their Harry Potter Lego creations, including a built-to-scale Hogwarts made from over 6000 pieces.  Hogwart’s is currently on display in the Lobby Display Case.

FEBRUARY VACATION ACTIVITIES

During February school vacation three programs will be offered. 

On Tuesday, February 19 (5:30-6:30) the Tooth Fairy will be flying in to read stories to the children and discuss proper brushing and the importance of regular dental care.  Each child will receive a goody bag full of items to set them on the road to healthy teeth.  To sign up please call the library at 508-867-0208.

Two craft activities will round out vacation week:  On Wednesday, February 20 (4:00–5:00pm) the children will make a counting game, using popsicle sticks, to hone their math skills.

On Thursday, February 21 (4:00–5:00pm) they’ll make catapults out of plastic spoons and wooden sticks and see whose shoots a pom-pom the farthest.

Through the generosity of Country Bank, the library has purchased a telescope through the Aldrich Adopt-a-Library Telescope program.
